My DIY, home maintenance and decorating projects have to be well planned in advance. Thankfully I have a great family supporting me to get the job done on time.
1st floor bathroom at home.
This bathroom has needed a makeover for a few years. My wife had seen the horrors of overpriced quotations for a small bathroom. Yes it needed a full strip out and all the plumbing redoing properly. DIY’ers in the past had just cut corners which ended in a leak under the floor boards that was covered by a toilet pan.

You can see the dark stains on the floor where the toilet and sink had leaked.
The bathroom had to have a near-walk in shower, modern furniture and new tiling. It need the floor to be fitted correctly and sealing wall to wall. All the components and furniture came to around £2000. This included buying some specialist tools to cut the tiles perfectly. It also included completely re-plastering the walls and sealing them. This was unforeseen until work commenced and the state of the plaster rendering was coming away with the previous tiles. Luckily my eldest son is a plasterer and sorted it out for a free gravy dinner.
I wanted this bathroom to be modern yet sturdy, no cheapo fixtures, fixings or faucets. Especially the shower mixer. Grohle fittings were chosen even though they were expensive, they have to last.

Even a new towel radiator was fitted

Laying out the new shower base before permanently fixing it.

How long did it take? Just 2 weeks and that included all the other chores like removing the old bathroom into a skip, I also fitted a new floor in our conservatory at the read of the house and attend online meetings for work, walk my dogs…..
